Friday 3rd November – Machan Trust Thank You Coffee Morning : The Trust staff are holding a “Thank You Coffee Morning” which will take place this coming Friday 3rdNovember from 10a.m. – 12noon., in the large hall at St Machan’s. There is no entry charge and a very warm welcome is extended to everyone in our Church Family and the Trust Staff look forward to seeing you there when you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee, cake and chat.

Over the last 2 months major works have been carried out to 2 Marshall Street which are used as offices for the Machan Trust. This was required as the property had some serious damp issues resulting in both dry and wet rot being found in several locations. The damp and rot issues have now been treated and a new heating has been installed with the property being redecorated throughout. The Machan Trust is immensely grateful for the upgrading of 2 Marshall Street.  The Trust hope to be fully up and running again in 2 Marshall St by next week and in their own words “ it will be amazing to have heating and newly decorated offices.  We are very excited!!”. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 3rd.

Sunday 5th November :

• Morning Worship will be held in St Machan’s Church at the usual time of 11a.m.

• Sunday 5th November - Wrap Up Lanarkshire - is a project run by Rotary clubs across Lanarkshire as part of Wrap Up UK in the run up to winter. They will be collecting coats which are in good condition but no longer needed, and giving them a second lease of life by helping them reach some of the most vulnerable members of the community.                            The coats will be passed to local homeless shelters, refugee centres, organisations supporting the elderly, women’s refuges, children’s centres and other charities helping people in crisis. Not only can this directly provide warmth in the winter months, it can kick-start a relationship between those in need and the charities that can help them by providing year-round services and support. All donations are sorted into different categories for men, women, children and babies, before being handed on to local and national charities according to their needs. As a small group of volunteers the Club are unable to accept other forms of clothing, but will ensure that coats you donate will find the most appropriate home and help keep people warm this winter. Coats are not sold or passed to charity shops but go direct to those in need. The closing date for donating is Sunday 5th November. All donations can be put in the large box situated inside the front door of the Church.

Larkhall Community Friends –  Liz Armour, Community Development Worker, in conjunction with Larkhall Community Network is hoping to introduce a Befriending Project called Larkhall Community Friends. They are looking for anyone who would be interested in becoming a Befriender. The Befriending volunteers at Community Friends will meet at Costa initially for coffee and a chat and will only offer companionship and meet for a coffee and a blether, they will not go into people’s homes. The service is about getting people out of the homes and finding out what their interests are and getting them using activities and services provided in the community. This would help reduce loneliness and isolation for people in the Larkhall Community.                               If you know someone who lives in Larkhall who may not get out of the house and needs a befriender, please feel free to contact Liz with their name and number who will contactthem. Thank you for your time and support if you need any more information, please feel free to contact Liz on Tel: 07510 593949.
