Men’s Club : The next meeting will be tomorrow, Monday 22nd October, at 2.00p.m. The guest speaker will be Mr Mark Duffus who will be giving a talk on “Military Cloth Badges”. A warm invitation is extended to all men of the congregation to come along and enjoy an interesting and informative afternoon.
Men’s Club Concert : The Club’s annual concert will take place in the Church on Monday 5th November at 7.30p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the group “Trilogy” who will be performing Scottish songs and music similar to the well-known group “The Corries”. Tickets, priced £5.00, which includes refreshments can be obtained from Club Committee Members or from the Resource Centre after Morning Worship. All proceeds will go to Church Funds. Please do come along and enjoy a good night out. Your support will be much appreciated.
Can You Help Please? : A driver is needed to pick up a lady from Pentland Crescent and bring her to Church on Sunday mornings. If you are able and willing to do this, please contact Joe Williamson after Morning Worship or call him on 01698 887031.
Food Bank Thanksgiving Service : Invitation: The management team of the Clyde, Avon and Nethan Foodbank would like to invite all members of the congregation to their thanksgiving service for the amazing support that has been extended to the foodbank since it opened five years ago. The service is being held in Trinity Church, Larkhall at 1.30pm on Wednesday, 24th October 2018. If you would like to have tea and home baking in the hall after the service, please let us know by telephoning the foodbank on 07591 104027 no later than Wednesday, 17th October so that we can make appropriate catering arrangements. We look forward to seeing you all.
Braehead Christian Healing Centre : On Wednesday 24th October, Dr Ann Jackson, from St Johns in Carluke and Braehead Christian Healing Centre, will be leading the morning service with her memories of her time in Africa as a medical Missionary during the Biafran war. A book is being written at the moment from her daily Journal of her time in Africa, and we will keep you informed of this. She is a good friend to St Machans and we would welcome your support.

Guild Invitation : Blantyre Old Parish Church, Craigmuir Road, Blantyre, would like to invite the congregation to their “Open Night” on Thursday 25th October at 7.30p.m., when the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra will be performing. Shoe Box Appeal : It’s that time of year again! This year the appeal is celebrating 25 years of bringing some happiness to someone in need at Christmas. Please pick up a leaflet on the table situated in the Church, as you enter at the Chancel area. This will give details of the type of items with which to fill your shoebox. Last year 115,932 shoeboxes were donated and distributed. Let’s help make this anniversary year a bumper one. The closing date is Sunday 28th October.
“National Day of Prayer” Breakfast : A national day of prayer has been planned by the Church of Scotland for Saturday 3rd November. “Together We Pray” is a national initiative to support the Church in responding to the call of prayer. The intention is that people will join together in praying for each other, our communities and for the future of the Church of Scotland within the changing spiritual, political and cultural landscapes of Scotland and beyond. The Wednesday Morning prayer and worship group are hosting a Prayer Breakfast on the 3rd in support of this. Breakfast will be served from 9.30a.m. with a time of prayer beginning at 10a.m. A very warm invitation is extended to all to come along and share in this special time of prayer and fellowship.
Holy Communion : This will be celebrated during Morning Worship on Sunday 4th November. Would Elders please uplift their duty rotas from the boxes in the Guild Room, ensuring a substitute is arranged should you be unable to fulfil your duty.
Guild : The Re-Dedication Service of the Guild will take place on Sunday 4th November during morning Worship.
McWhirter Home : On Sunday 4th November it is St Machan’s turn to take the afternoon service at McWhirter Home at 3p.m. As always, Alastair would be grateful for support to assist with the singing and to share a short time of fellowship with the residents after the service.
