    Intimations for Sunday 7th October

Harvest Thanksgiving : Thank you to everyone who so kindly donated food and/or money to our Harvest Thanksgiving Service last Sunday. The food and produce were delivered to the Glasgow Lodging House Mission on Monday and were, as always, most very gratefully received. The monetary gifts totaled the wonderful sum of £365.00 and a cheque has now been sent to the Glasgow City Mission. Once again, the wonderful generosity of the folks of St Machan’s has been outstanding.

Men’s Club : The new session of the Men’s Club opens tomorrow afternoon, Monday 8th October at 2p.m.. The speaker is Danny Baxter and his topic will be “Bee Keeping”.

Friendship Circle : The Senior Friendship Circle will have their first meeting of the new session this coming Tuesday, 9th October.  Due to unforeseen circumstances there has been a change to the programme for this meeting and the speaker will be Mrs Louise Gardiner. Rev Spence will now be the speaker at our final meeting in March.  We meet in the Guild room at 2pm.

Kirk Session : The next meeting of the Kirk Session will be held on Thursday 11th October at 7p.m in the Session House. Minutes of the last meeting and Convenors reports will be emailed to Elders this coming week with paper copies being available in the boxes of those Elders not on line, next Sunday.

Crossreach : Orders are now being taken for the 2019 Crossreach Circle of Care Calendars, which are priced at £5.00 for the wall calendar and £4.50 for the appointment calendar. Closing date for orders is Sunday 14th October and orders can be placed with Isobel Begley or by telephoning her on 01698 884027.

Guild : The Guild are having an “Open Night” on Tuesday 16th October at 7.30p.m. when they will be treated to a talk about “Glickman Sweets”, the oldest sweetie shop in Glasgow. There will be an opportunity for everyone to buy some “goodies” so please come along and bring a friend, or two.

Shoe Box Appeal : It’s that time of year again!  This year the appeal is celebrating 25 years of bringing some happiness to someone in need at Christmas. Please pick up a leaflet on the table situated in the Church, as you enter at the Chancel area. This will give details of the type of items with which to fill your shoebox.  Last year 115,932 shoeboxes were donated and distributed. Let’s help make this anniversary year a bumper one.

Food Bank Thanksgiving Service : Invitation: The management team of the Clyde, Avon and Nethan Foodbank would like to invite all members of the congregation to their thanksgiving service for the amazing support that has been extended to the foodbank  since it opened five years ago. The service is being held in Trinity Church, Larkhall at 1.30pm on Wednesday, 24th October 2018. If you would like to have tea and home baking in the hall after the service, please let us know by telephoning the foodbank on 07591 104027 no later than Wednesday, 17th October so that we can make appropriate catering arrangements. We look forward to seeing you all.

Food Bank Volunteers : The foodbank Management Team is looking for volunteers to cover the foodbank when it is open on Tuesdays 10.30am - 1.30pm and on Fridays 10.30am - 2.30pm. The current 10 week rota system means that volunteers generally work on 2/3 occasions during the 10 week period. Training is given to all new volunteers. If you are interested in finding out more, please call the foodbank telephone on 07591 104027.
